Truveo Partners with Kosmix to Help Consumers Easily Find Topic Specific Health Videos
San Francisco, CA – September 6, 2007 – Truveo announced today that the company's video search engine (http://www.truveo.com) is being used by Kosmix™ to present topic-relevant videos on its health site, www.righthealth.com, giving users a starting point to explore any health topic they might want from the common cold to diabetes to autism. Kosmix is also using Truveo's capabilities on its sites focused on autos and travel.
Kosmix takes advantage of Truveo's search APIs to automatically select and present relevant and up-to-date videos to consumers. For instance, a search on osteoarthritis will display videos of the latest news and science segments on the topic. Truveo's search APIs enable developers and website operators to build applications with powerful video search and discovery features that access Truveo's extensive index of tens-of-millions of online videos.
“Kosmix is leading the way in showing how the millions of videos available across the Web can be used effectively to help consumers learn about the topics they care about,” said Timothy Tuttle, CEO and Co-Founder of Truveo and Senior Vice President of AOL Video. “While many of our partners use the Truveo APIs to create excellent video search sites, Kosmix took the APIs and developer tools one step further. Kosmix users simply see the results while the search process is hidden from them.”
“Online video has exploded over the past year as consumers seek to get a more visual experience when exploring for content on the Web,”” said Venky Harinarayan, Co-Founder of Kosmix. “Truveo's large database of high-quality assets and its ability to deliver just-in-time videos enables us to give our consumers the best of what the Web has to offer every single time they get online.”
