AT&T Inc. Offers Calling Relief for Military Personnel
San Antonio, Texas, December 22, 2005
AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced that its local service companies will offer relocating military personnel the option to connect their local phone service at no charge. Installation charges for new AT&T or SBC local service for military personnel who relocate nationwide are waived.
Military personnel are encouraged to contact their AT&T telephone company customer service representatives for further details in order to apply for this waiver. AT&T Wisconsin customers can contact (800) 244-4444 for more information. Through this effort, AT&T companies expect more than 5,000 members of the military to take advantage of the offer each month. The offer is available through Nov. 30, 2006.
"We're proud of the men and women serving in our military and want to extend this offer as a salute to the sacrifices being made by these folks day in and day out," said Scott Helbing, chief marketing officer, AT&T Consumer.
Other AT&T initiatives that support communities, customers and employees include:
AT&T companies will continue sponsoring Freedom Calls events in several markets this month and in January. The events are designed to connect military personnel serving in Iraq with family members in the states. The events enable families to spend 20 minutes visiting with loved ones through an online, video-enabled chat session.
AT&T companies will donate more than 15,000 AT&T PrePaid Phone Cards to military personnel overseas. The cards enable 20 minutes of talk time to the U.S. from Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan.
