Sichuan Airlines receives first Airbus A319
Sichuan Airlines Co., Ltd. has taken delivery of its first Airbus A319 aircraft, becoming a new customer for the type. The A319 aircraft will seat up to 132 passengers in a very comfortable and flexible two-class layout and are equipped by V2500 engines from International Aero Engines to meet requirements of high-altitude operations.
This is the first of the four A319s ordered by the Chengdu-based carrier in 2003, and the remaining three will be delivered from December 2004 to 2005.
"We are pleased to deploy the modern aircraft on the routes linking with Jiuzhai Valley, Panzhihua, Lijiang and other high-altitude areas in west China, and will put the A319s into operation at Lhasa, Tibet in the future," said Lan Xinguo, Chairman and President of Sichuan Airlines Co., Ltd.
Sichuan Airlines has an excellent record in operating of the A320 Family aircraft with a strong technical support team.

Air China orders six Airbus A319s
Flag carrier Air China has signed a contract with Airbus for six additional A319s. The aircraft, powered by CFM International’s CFM56-5 engines, are scheduled for delivery in 2005.
The carrier plans to deploy the aircraft mainly on Chengdu-Lhasa and other routes linking high-altitude airports in Sichuan Province and Tibet in southwest China which Air China serves with A319 and A340-300 aircraft.

Statemnt by Airbus on the US government request for formal consultations at the WTO
Airbus has fully supported all recent actions by the European Commission to engage with the US government in serious discussions on comprehensive new disciplines on government support.
The United States decision to terminate the 1992 Agreement and request formal consultations at the WTO is a strong demonstration of our competitor’s unwillingness to enter negotiations to end the massive US federal and state supports for the 7E7 and other programmes.
The path chosen by the US government today underscores our belief that the 7E7 programme is only viable because of the WTO-inconsistent subsidies granted to it – subsidies which were already prohibited by the 1992 Agreement. The WTO will now be asked to rule on the compatibility of the various governments’ subsidies to this and other programmes.
The market will now draw its own conclusions on the viability of the 7E7, a programme which depends vitally on WTO - incompatible subsidies ...

Airbus and Teledyne Controls release 'AirFASE''
Airbus and Teledyne Controls, a business unit of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: TDY), announced the official release of their Flight Analysis and Safety Explorer AirFASE™. This jointly developed and supported Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) system is designed to assist aircraft operators conducting flight operations, safety management, and aircraft maintenance programmes to reduce incidents and meet new regulatory authorities’ requirements.
Airbus and Teledyne Controls have started to deliver AirFASE to the 23 committed airlines using already-existing flight data analysis products from both Airbus and Teledyne Controls.
The new product’s availability was made official after the successful beta testing of AirFASE with Airbus and Boeing aircraft at two commercial airlines, TUI Group’s German arm Hapag-Lloyd, and Finland flag carrier Finnair ...
