BT opens nominations for UK information security journalism awards 2008

BT opens nominations for UK information security journalism awards 2008

To acknowledge the importance of information security to British businesses and recognise the quality of journalism that covers this vital topic in the UK, BT’s business continuity, security and governance practice is opening nominations for the third successive BT UK Information Security Journalism Awards 2008.

The judging panel will be chaired by Ray Stanton, global head of BT’s business continuity, security and governance practice, who will be joined by leading independent figures from the security industry. The panel will be formally announced in February 2008.

BT’s business continuity, security and governance practice is made up of industry experts and has extensive experience implementing security solutions for some of the largest global organisations.

Stanton said: “BT is committed to improving information security in Britain, all the way from home users through to multi-national organisations.
We recognise the vital role that information security journalism plays in raising awareness amongst businesses and the public about the issues surrounding security and the solutions they can implement to remain secure. These awards are designed to acknowledge the great work that the UK media does in this field.”

The winners will be announced at an awards lunch to be held at a central London venue in June 2008. Awards will be presented in the following categories:
• Information Security Journalist of the Year - £1500 prize
• Best information security news story of the year - £500 prize
• Best overall information security feature article of the year - £500 prize
• Individual feature article awards for:
Best Privacy feature of the year - £500 prize
Best ID management feature of the year - £500 prize
Best business continuity feature of the year - £500 prize
Best generic security feature of the year - £500 prize (this includes online features and any articles on the topic of security that do not fit into the above categories)
• BT Enigma Award

The deadline for submissions is Friday 15 February 2008. The awards are only open to UK based journalists. Short listed awards entries will be announced in April 2008.

Award submission instructions:

For the Information Security Journalist of the Year category entries can be accepted from journalists, their editors or publishers. You must submit five articles written by an individual journalist to be eligible for this award.

For the remaining categories journalists, editors or publishers are asked to submit one article per entry. Multiple entries can be made but all articles must have been published during the calendar year 2007. The awards are only open to UK based journalists. The deadline for award submission is Friday 15 February 2008. Entries must be accompanied with the following information:
