BT will be BMW Group's partner for the modernisation of its telecommunications infrastructure

BT Germany will operate the central VoIP based telecommunications infrastructure for BMW Group in the Greater Munich Area. As part of the restructuring of BMW Group’s telecommunications environment, BT will carry out a step-by-step migration to IP telephony.

In doing so the BMW Group and BT are further developing their long-term cooperation for communication services and BT will be an important partner for the introduction of leading-edge IP telephony, based on Internet Protocol (IP) technology.

Within the framework of this project BT will install and operate the central infrastructure using Cisco Call Manager with a capacity for up to 30,000 IP telephones. In addition, the service provider is responsible for all voice calls from the BMW Group network into the public telephone network (call termination).
