Dr Pepper/Seven Up outperformed the US soft drinks market in the first half of 1999.
Dr Pepper had another excellent quarter with volume growing at four times the market rate.
7 Up performance was mixed with increases in a number of channels and markets offset primarily by a poor quarter's results in Southern California, its biggest market.
All Other growth in both quarters was driven by increases across most brands including A&W (+4%), Sunkist (+17%), Welch's (+9%), Canada Dry (+5%) and Country Time (+34%).
Volume performance was consistent across most bottling systems and particularly strong in Fountain (+6%).
Commenting on these results, John Brock, Managing Director of Cadbury Schweppes Beverages Stream, said, "DPSU had continued strong growth in the second quarter despite a market affected by increased pricing. Dr Pepper continues to grow well ahead of the market driven by growth in all channels of distribution. Our Flavour brands are benefiting from renewed investment and increased execution in a more aligned Independent Bottling System. Although not included in these results, Hawaiian Punch has had strong growth since our acquisition in mid-May".
