eBay Real Estate Announces Top Ten Land Markets

- International exposure helps drive ‘Twenty-First Century Land Grab’ - San Jose, CA – September 4, 2002 – eBay Real Estate, The World’s Online Marketplace for Real Estate, (NASDAQ: EBAY), today released a list of its top ten land markets, ranked by volume of land sold. A parcel of land is sold on eBay Real Estate every 45 minutes, and over 15,000 parcels have been posted for sale since its inception.

eBay’s land marketplace offers individual sellers international exposure through a simple, inexpensive and efficient process for posting parcels, while allowing any of its 49 million registered users the opportunity to purchase a piece of America for as little as five hundred dollars. And with a sagging economy, many buyers are turning to land as a viable investment opportunity, helping to drive the marketplace and the prices of the land it trades.

“eBay has helped us grow our business by leaps and bounds by making it incredibly easy for us to reach millions of potential buyers, regardless of where they live,” said Doug Caffey, president of GotAcres.com and one of eBay’s top land sellers. “We’re finding ourselves in the midst of a twenty-first century land grab, driven by the accessibility of eBay and a renewed interest in land as an alternative investment.”

Properties on the top ten list range from recreational parcels for hunting, camping and fishing to lots for home building to development plots that can be used for investment.

“We’re continuing to see an increase in the number of leads we receive through eBay, and a tremendous amount of those are repeat buyers,” added Michael Grieg, another of eBay’s top land sellers who resides in Vancouver, British Columbia. “The excitement this generates amongst our buyers, no matter what the reason for their purchase, is incredible – they simply can’t seem to get enough.”

The top ten markets supplying land on eBay Real Estate, by rank, are: Southern Colorado New growth areas North of Los Angeles Southwest Florida’s Gulf Coast West Texas The Ozarks region of Arkansas and Missouri Scenic Blue Ridge Mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina Big Bear and other Los Angeles recreational areas Southern Wyoming Cascade Mountains in Southern Oregon Grand Canyon and Lake Mead For more information about posting land for sale on eBay Real Estate, please visit www.ebay.com/land or email eBayLand@eBay.com.
