June 25, 2002, San Jose, CA – Maynard Webb, President of eBay Technologies, has been named Chief Operating Officer of eBay (Nasdaq: EBAY; www.ebay.com), the world’s online marketplace. Webb will continue to report to Meg Whitman, eBay’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
Webb’s primary role will be to choreograph eBay’s daily operations across the company’s interdependent organizations. He will continue to lead eBay’s technology, customer support, and product development divisions. The leading members of eBay’s executive staff, including Chief Financial Officer Rajiv Dutta, head of U.S. operations Jeff Jordan, head of international operations Matt Bannick, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing Bill Cobb, and General Counsel Mike Jacobson, will continue to report to Whitman.

As part of their roles as leaders of eBay’s U.S. and international businesses, Jordan and Bannick will now also serve as eBay’s Chief Revenue Officers. And along with his responsibilities as Chief Financial Officer, Dutta will become eBay’s Chief Strategist.
Webb has a distinguished record of technology and business management achievements from his twenty-two year career. Prior to joining eBay, Webb was senior vice president and CIO at Gateway, Inc. Before Gateway, Webb was vice president and CIO of Bay Networks, where he oversaw the company’s integrated systems organization and led its award-winning architectural systems strategy. He has also worked at Quantum and IBM.
