Endress+Hauser Leverages SAP® Solutions to Empower International Subsidiaries and Integrate Global Operations on Unified IT Platform
Leading Company in the Industrial Process Engineering Industry Rolls Out SAP® Business One Across Global Subsidiary Network to Link with Headquarters’ Main SAP System
WEIL AM RHEIN, Germany - December 04, 2003 - SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced that Endress+Hauser, the world’s largest privately held international group of companies in the market of process automation, is undertaking a global rollout of SAP® Business One for 30 subsidiaries worldwide. With SAP Business One -- a scalable, robust and easy-to-deploy solution for small and midsize businesses -- Endress+Hauser is providing each subsidiary with a business solution that fits its size and scope of work, while strategically integrating the group’s global network with the SAP system at the group’s headquarters. To minimize administrative tasks, operating costs and total cost of ownership, the subsidiaries’ solutions will be hosted and maintained centrally at the group’s IT provider Endress+Hauser InfoServe, a certified SAP Customer Competence Center, SAP Business One Sales & Service Partner (SSP) and SAP® Hosting Partner.
In addition to SAP Business One for more than 350 users at its subsidiaries, Endress+Hauser is also enhancing operations and enterprise application integration at its production sites and sales and service centers with global deployments of mySAP Business Suite solutions for customer relationship management, financials and product life-cycle management as well as the business intelligence, enterprise portal and exchange infrastructure products of the SAP NetWeaver technology platform.
“SAP solutions are playing a key role in our technology-driven business processes and customer-driven strategy,” said Walter Rink, managing director of Endress+Hauser InfoServe. “With our ever-growing global reach, we needed a solution to help keep core operations close at hand. SAP Business One will help us better align our subsidiaries’ operations to our overall corporate strategy, and accelerate response to market and customer needs around the world.”
Founded fifty years ago as a small, family-owned company, Endress+Hauser has driven sustainable growth to become one of the world’s leading suppliers of process instrumentation. With revenue of nearly 730 million euro in 2002, the group has more than 5,900 employees at 74 subsidiaries in 38 countries. The Endress+Hauser product portfolio comprises sensors and devices that measure and analyze level, flow, pressure, temperature and tank level and then forward this information to sophisticated control technology. With the widespread applications for its products in diverse industries -- from chemicals and pharmaceuticals, to water works and utilities -- the group needed tighter integration of operations throughout its global subsidiary network to make the most of evolving business opportunities.
With SAP Business One, Endress+Hauser subsidiaries gain a complete enterprise resource planning solution to cover core processes such as logistic supply chain, financial reporting, human resources and customer relationship management -- avoiding the costs of linking up, maintaining and training employees on various third-party systems. Leveraging the integration of SAP Business One and mySAP Business Suite solutions, Endress+Hauser headquarters gains a comprehensive view across the group’s global activities, while cutting costs and improving efficiency of its subsidiaries’ operations.
Endress+Hauser InfoServe will integrate SAP Business One with its variant configurator to facilitate production process. The rollout is scheduled to begin at the group’s Polish subsidiary by early 2004, followed by subsidiaries in Australia, the Czech Republic and Germany, with further rollouts slated for 2005.
“Endress+Hauser’s global rollout confirms our design of SAP Business One as a comprehensive solution that meets the needs of small and midsize organizations and can integrate seamlessly with a parent company’s central IT infrastructure,” said Juergen Kleinsteuber, vice president of SAP Business One Operations Global, SAP AG. “SAP Business One gives Endress+Hauser the ability to achieve tightly integrated business processes across its corporate structure while lowering overall operating costs.”
