SAP America, Inc. Names Mark Lange National Vice President of Human Capital Management
NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. - November 22, 2004 - SAP America, the U.S. subsidiary of SAP AG (NYSE: SAP), today announced the appointment of Mark Lange as national vice president of human capital management (HCM) for the industry solutions and field marketing team. Based in Palo Alto, Calif., Mark will be responsible for the national HCM revenue target and all business development activities for the mySAP ERP HCM solution, including strategic sales, pipeline development, field enablement and thought leadership. Mark and his team will also be working with SAP's global development organization to satisfy customer requirements, and will provide increased regional sales focus for both existing and new account business opportunities.

Mark has over 20 years of experience in workforce policy and technology business development, including seven years in the HCM software marketplace. He joins SAP directly from PeopleSoft, where he served two years as vice president of global product marketing for HCM. There, he was responsible for competitive positioning, marketing, sales pipeline development, field enablement and industry thought leadership for PeopleSoft's HCM applications. Prior to working at PeopleSoft, Mark helped found Brassring L.L.C, an enterprise recruiting software company that partners with SAP, where he grew the business from $300K to more than $42 million in five years. While at Brassring, Mark held positions in marketing, sales, product management, business development, and analyst/media relations. Prior to Brassring, he worked at K-III, a KKR private equity fund as vice president of product and market development.
Before focusing on HCM software, Mark served as chief speechwriter to two U.S. Secretaries of Labor, where he helped define workforce policy in the 1980s, with special emphasis on U.S. competitiveness and closing the skills gap in key employment categories. He also served as a speechwriter to former U.S. President George H.W. Bush, where he wrote the 1991 State of the Union Address and numerous statements for the President during the first Gulf War.
Mark holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and earned a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College.
