Shell Exploration & Production Company (Shell) today announced that production began at its Habanero subsea development on November 29, 2003.
Habanero is located in Garden Banks Block 341 in the Gulf of Mexico about 200 miles southeast of New Orleans in approximately 2,015 feet of water. The subsea development ties back approximately 11.5 miles to Shell’s Auger tension leg platform, making this the fourth subsea development to tie back to the Auger hub. Peak production for Habanero is expected to reach 22,000 barrels of oil and 75 million cubic feet of gas per day by the end of first quarter, 2004. Shell Solar GmbH today announced that it has signed an agreement to expand module assembly capacity at Evora, Portugal. The Portuguese plant will become Shell Solar’s sole solar module assembly plant in Europe.

The Economist and Shell are pleased to announce the winner of their fourth annual international writing competition.

The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (Shell) and Africare today announced the signing of a partnership agreement to establish a $4.5 million health care programme in Nigeria.
Shell will contribute $3.4 million of the programme’s costs over the next three years, with Africare contributing $1.1 million.
