Imagine Tomorrow Child Development Center,
the child care center for team members at Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America,
Inc. (TMMNA) has recently earned accreditation from the National Association for
the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) - the nation's leading organization of
early childhood professionals. Imagine Tomorrow, operated by Children's Inc.,
a not-for-profit child care service provider, received a perfect score from NAEYC.
"This is quite an honor for Imagine Tomorrow - only seven percent of child
care centers in the country receive accreditation from NAEYC - and only a select
few get perfect scores," said Dennis Cuneo, senior vice president of TMMNA.
"We feel very fortunate that the children of our team members have access
to this high quality child care."
To earn NAEYC's accreditation, a program conducts a self-study to determine
how well it meets the standards. After making any necessary improvements, the
program is observed by independent, professional auditors, and then reviewed
by a national panel. Day care centers are evaluated on the following:
* Positive and warm interactions between teachers and children
* Healthy and safe environments
* Teachers' professional knowledge and preparation
* Effective learning activities
* Materials appropriate to children's age, development, and cultural diversity
* Communication with families
* Availability of caring adults to respond to the needs and interests of individual
children
Imagine Tomorrow is a 30,000 square-foot facility, including a 17,000 square
foot outdoor playground, that can provide service for up to 125 children at
any one time. The center operates from 6:30 A.M. to 7:00 p.m. / five days a
week; and care is provided for 6-week old infants up to school aged children
(ages 6-12).
