During the month of December, 500 Toyota
Motor Manufacturing Indiana, Inc. (TMMI) team members donated blood. During
this season of uncertainty, TMMI was able to help the American Red Cross maintain
the blood supply needed in our neighboring communities.
"During the holiday season, we traditionally experience a blood shortage,
and this year was no exception," explained Kathy Schoettlin with the American
Red Cross. "Toyota team members joined the American Red Cross in a record-setting
blood drive to help combat this shortage."
At the four-day blood drive conducted at TMMI in December, the American Red
Cross Blood Services hoped to collect 430 units of blood and easily exceed that
goal.
"During our last blood drive in August 2003, team members donated a total
of 468 units of blood," explained R.J. Reynolds, TMMI's Vice President
of Administration and Manufacturing Planning. "This drive collected 500
units, a new record for us, and included 32 first-time donors. We are pleased
that our collections and participation continue to grow."
"The actions of corporations and team members like those at Toyota are
vital components in allowing us to help those individuals who are in need of
the gift of life," concluded Stacey Linder of the American Red Cross Blood
Services.
Since 1999, TMMI has hosted a quarterly blood drive in conjunction with the
American Red Cross.
The need for blood is never ending. The blood supply for our area can only
be maintained by volunteer donors like those at TMMI. Help is always needed.

In 1996, Toyota broke ground for a manufacturing facility in Princeton, IN.
TMMI now employs approximately 4,800 team members from Princeton and the surrounding
communities. Within the four million square-foot facility, team members produce
the Tundra pick-up truck, Sequoia sport utility vehicle, and the Sienna minivan.
