December 17, 2001 -- Torrance, CA -- Lexus will continue to set the trend and
create a new benchmark in the luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV) segment with
the debut of the all-new GX 470 SUV at the 2002 North American International
Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, January 12-26.
Positioned between the car-based RX 300 and the high-end LX 470, the V8-powered,
mid-size GX 470 will give Lexus the unique distinction of being the only full-line
luxury marque to offer three diverse SUVs.
The GX 470 will feature the same full-time four-wheel drive system as the premium
LX 470, a 4.7-liter V8 engine, and rear adaptive height controls. These rugged
features, coupled with numerous luxury amenities, will provide Lexus GX 470
customers with an ideal mix of business and pleasure.
The all-new GX 470 SUV will go on sale in January 2003. Further details about
the vehicle will be announced at the NAIAS Lexus press conference on Sunday,
January 6, 2002, at 3:20 p.m. at the Lexus floor display. The Lexus press conference
also will be presented live via webcast on lexus.com.
The Lexus Luxury Lounge will be open during the auto show's media days for
those journalists wishing to stop by for refreshments, relaxing neck and shoulder
massages from professional massage therapists, or to enjoy the Mark Levinson
audio system display.
