Toyota Reports Strong November Sales

Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today reported strong November sales of 126,013 vehicles, up 4.6 percent over last November's record-setting sales.

"Industry sales are on final approach for a soft landing, tracking right alongside the economy," said Jim Press, TMS executive vice president.

Calendar-year-to-date sales totaled 1,485,213, an increase of 9.3 percent over the same period last year. Both TMS sales divisions broke November sales marks set last year. Toyota Division recorded sales of 108,136 units, up 2.9 percent. The Lexus Division reported increased sales of 17,877 units, up 16.5 percent over the same period last year.

Toyota Division light truck sales rose 18.3 percent, to 46,947 units, for a best-ever November. Sales were led by the restyled Tacoma compact pickup, with an impressive 12,537 units sold, an increase of 24.5 percent over last November. The Tundra full-size pickup enjoyed a best-ever November, with 7,290 units sold, an increase of 9.0 percent. The redesigned RAV4 compact SUV also saw a best-ever November, with 7,316 units sold, an increase of 109.6 percent. The all-new, EPA-certified ULEV Sequoia full-size SUV enjoyed a strong introductory month, with 5,025 units sold.

The Lexus Division's record-setting November was due to the recent introduction of two redesigned vehicles. The completely redesigned LS 430 flagship posted sales of 2,546 units, a tremendous increase of 235.9 percent over last November. The GS 430 enjoyed a strong November with 548 units sold, an increase of 51.8 percent. The all-new IS 300 sport sedan saw hearty sales of 1,950 units. The popular RX 300 continues its steady sales pace with 7,297 units sold, an increase of 5.3 percent over last November.

Sales of North American-built vehicles made up 62.0 percent of total November sales.
