| Unilever N.V., through its subsidiaries, manufactures and supplies fast
moving consumer goods in food, and home and personal care product
categories. It offers food items, including soups, bouillons, sauces,
snacks, mayonnaise, salad dressings, olive oil, margarines, spreads,
and frozen foods, as well as cooking products, such as liquid
margarines under the brand names, Knorr, Hellmann's, Calve, Wish-Bone,
Amora, Bertolli, Becel, Flora, Rama, Blue Band, and Country Crock; ice
cream under the Heart brand, including Cornetto, Magnum, Carte d'Or,
and Solero, as well as under the brand names, Ben & Jerry's,
Breyers, Klondike, and Popsicle; tea under the brand names, Lipton and
Brooke Bond; nutritionally enhanced staples under the Annapurna and
AdeS brand names; and weight management products under SlimFast brand
name. The company also supplies personal care products, including
deodorants, skin cleansers, hair care, and skin care products under
Axe, Dove, Lux, Pond's, Rexona, Sunsilk, Suave, Clear, Lifebuoy, and
Vaseline brand names, as well as oral care products under Signal and
Close Up brand names. Further, Unilever's home care products comprise
laundry products, such as tablets, and traditional powders and liquids
for washing by hand or machine, as well as soap bars under Comfort,
Omo, Radiant, Skip, Snuggle, and Surf brand names; and household care
products under Cif and Domestos brand names. It sells its products
through its sales force, as well as through independent brokers,
agents, and distributors to chain, wholesale, co-operative, and
independent grocery accounts, and to food service distributors and
institutions primarily in Europe, the United States, Asia, and Africa.
The company, formerly known as Naamlooze Vennootschap Margarine Unie,
was founded in 1927 and is based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. |

Unilever today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to sell its North American laundry business in US, Canada and Puerto Rico to Vestar Capital Partners.Vestar Capital Partners (Vestar) is a leading global private equity firm. Vestar will merge the business with its existing operation, Huish Detergents Inc., to form a new company, The Sun Products Corporation (Sun Products).The consideration consists of a cash payment of $1.075 billion, together with preferred shares in The Sun Products Corporation with a face value of $375 million, and warrants offering the opportunity to acquire up to 2.5% of the common equity of The Sun Products Corporation.The businesses to be sold include the all®, Snuggle®, Wisk®, Surf®, and Sunlight® fabric cleaning and fabric conditioning brands in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico, as well as Unilever’s manufacturing facility in Baltimore, MD, USA.Patrick Cescau, Unilever’s Group Chief Executive, said: “We have reached a good deal for both Unilever shareholders and the business. Unilever disposes Bertolli Olive Oil to Grupo SOS
21/07/2008 : Unilever today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement for the disposal of its Bertolli olive oil and vinegar business with Grupo SOS for a consideration of €630m.

Unilever to sell Turkish olive oil business
10/07/2008 : Unilever today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to sell Komili, the market leading olive oil brand in Turkey, for an undisclosed amount to Ana Gida, part of the Anadolu Group.
