03/12/2003 : Antony Burgmans, chairman of Unilever N.V., has been awarded an honorary Doctorate of Laws (LL.D.) at Lancaster University in recognition of his distinguished career in business with Unilever and as a leading international figure in the management discipline.
The citation of the award also recognises the important environmental initiatives undertaken by Antony Burgmans within Unilever, his role in establishing the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) together with the World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) and his chairmanship of the CEO Panel at the World Water Forum in 2000.
