Leading Internet Guide Links Up with Leading Greeting Card Company to Provide Electronic Greetings Service
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Dec. 29, 1997 --
Yahoo! (www.yahoo.com) today announced an
agreement with Hallmark Cards, Inc. to provide users with
direct access to electronic greetings from the Hallmark
Connections Shop (www.hallmarkconnections.com). People
looking for a fun new way to reach out to friends and family
over the Internet can now use Yahoo! Mail (mail.yahoo.com)
and Yahoo! People Search to quickly and conveniently access
and send electronic greetings for every occasion. The new
feature provides millions of Yahoo!® users access to
approximately 1,700 Hallmark electronic greetings, over
1,500 of which are free as part of a grand opening offer,
that can be sent to anyone with an e-mail address.
"Providing users with a new way to express themselves and
reach other people is a logical extension of our
communication tools," said Jeff Mallett, senior vice
president of Business Operations at Yahoo!. "By teaming up
with Hallmark, the recognized leader in personal expressions
products, we can now offer our users a convenient way to
send creative, personalized greetings from a trusted brand
to friends and family around the world."

Send Greeting Cards Quickly and Easily
Now individuals in the process of sending e-mail through
Yahoo! Mail or looking up an e-mail address in People Search
have the option to click on the Hallmark Electronic
Greetings link and browse through a wide selection of
Hallmark electronic greetings. The greetings include funny,
playful greetings as well as more serious, thoughtful
sentiments. There are also specific greetings tailored to
holidays and special interests. In addition, users can send
a variety of animated greetings, which feature sound and
motion almost like a mini-movie.
Yahoo! is promoting Hallmark‚s electronic greeting
service through an extensive advertising and promotional
campaign on the main Yahoo! site (www.yahoo.com), Netscape
Guide by Yahoo! and VISA Shopping Guide by Yahoo!.
