Yahoo! Connects Consumers and Retailers to After-Christmas Sales
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Dec. 27, 1999 --
Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq:
YHOO) today announced record order volume on Yahoo! Shopping
for the period between Thanksgiving, Nov. 25, and Christmas,
Dec. 25. During this time period, orders to Yahoo!® Shopping
(http://shopping.yahoo.com)
rose more than 385 percent over the previous year's holiday shopping
season. With the peak holiday season coming to a close, people
are still heading to Yahoo! to purchase millennium must-haves

"Yahoo! is on its way to establishing itself as the world
leader in enabling commerce transactions," said Jeff Mallett,

thousands of brands and more than 8,500 merchants, millions of
products, features like Yahoo! Wallet, Gift Registry, Express
Checkout, and other services such as comparison shopping and
branded reviews, Yahoo! offers consumers the choice, convenience
and value they want. By providing consumers with this proposition,
Yahoo! will continue to grow as a premier online shopping destination."

out to offline shoppers through an agreement with Kmart, which
offers its customers free Internet access. Users of the service
will be greeted by a co-branded My Yahoo! start page, giving
consumers easy access to Yahoo!'s wide array of services and

Post-Holiday Sales on The Web
Consumers looking for after-Christmas sales can turn to Yahoo!
Shopping and Yahoo! Auctions to find great deals across the Web
from the comfort of home. Retailers looking to reach consumers
in search of post-holiday bargains can set up and run after-Christmas
sales online, host special millennium offers, and offer 1999
clearance sales through the new Yahoo! Merchant Auctions Program,
unveiled on Dec. 15, 1999.
To participate in Yahoo! Merchant Auctions, retailers need
simply to be registered for Yahoo! Store (http://store.yahoo.com),
which offers merchants the ability to instantly create, publish
and manage secure online stores to market and sell goods and
services. Otherwise, businesses of any size also can participate
in Yahoo! Merchant Auctions by registering for the Merchant Auctions
Order Manager, a service that allows sellers to process an unlimited
number of orders each month for just $29.95. These services
are only available to U.S. merchants who have a merchant ID.
Special Offers for Participating Yahoo! Merchants
Through Jan. 31, 2000, Yahoo! is offering a $25 credit for Featured
Auctions to any merchant who is participating in Yahoo! Merchant
Auctions, a new program for Yahoo! Stores and other merchants
to differentiate themselves and sell high-demand products and
unique wares, offer special sales or liquidate hard-to-find inventory
on Yahoo! Auctions. Featured Auctions helps any seller rise
above the crowd of competing auctions and attract bidders to
their auctions by bidding and paying for more prominent placement
within Yahoo! Auctions' more than 3,600 categories. In addition
to this offer, anyone who opens a Yahoo! Store through Jan. 31,
2000, also will receive one free month of store service (a $100
to $300 value).
New Features Help Consumers Maximize Purchasing Power
Yahoo! today added two new features to help consumers make even
more of their online shopping experience: movie previews on Yahoo!
Shopping and a My Yahoo! Auctions module on My Yahoo!. These
latest enhancements bolster existing Yahoo! Shopping features
such as Yahoo! Wallet, Express Checkout and Gift Registry, and
Yahoo! Auctions services including My Auctions Booth, Featured
Auctions and Merchant Auctions.
Preview This! - Cinematic buffs and star-struck consumers
alike now can preview their favorite movies over the Internet
on Yahoo! Shopping before making a video purchasing decision.
Whether looking for classics, independent films or blockbusters,
theater fans everywhere can access more than 4,000 movie trailers
quickly and conveniently on Yahoo! Shopping's Movies and Video
category. Working with VideoPipeline, Yahoo! Shopping has made
these trailers available to help consumers easily find, preview
and purchase their favorite movies from the comfort of their
own homes.
My Yahoo! Auction Action - With the My Yahoo! Auctions module
consumers can easily monitor the progress of auctions when offering
items for sale, bidding for unique collectibles and memorabilia,
or just following auctions of interest including Yahoo!'s ongoing
charity auctions. For each auction tracked, the My Yahoo! Auctions
Module highlights the current high bid and the person who is
currently winning the auction, and gives easy access to the auction
details. My Yahoo! Auctions even lets consumers know when they
have been outbid. Like everything else on My Yahoo! (http://my.yahoo.com),
it is a fun and simple way for people to see all they are interested
in from one page.
