Yahoo! Greetings Delivers Holiday Cheer
New Survey Finds That More Than Half of All E-mail Users Are Likely to Send Electronic Greetings This Year
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Dec. 16, 1999 --
Thinking about
sending fruitcake to a special someone this holiday season? Think
again. Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO), a leading global Internet
media company, today announced the results of a consumer survey
indicating that e-mail users would rather receive an electronic
greeting card this holiday season than a historically popular
fruitcake.
Conducted by Yankelovich Partners and commissioned by Yahoo!®
Greetings (http://greetings.yahoo.com),
Yahoo!'s free electronic greeting card service, the survey shows
that electronic greetings are widely popular among e-mail users.
More than half of American e-mail users say they have received
greeting cards in their e-mail boxes over the past month. Yahoo!
Greetings offers a wide range of electronic greetings for a variety
of occasions including everything from Christmas, Hanukkah, Ramadan
and Kwanzaa to Y2K, the Millenium, Get Well, Good Luck, and more.
"More and more people are turning to Yahoo! Greetings
to send friends, family and coworkers fun, creative messages,"
said Brian Park, senior producer, Yahoo!. "With a click
of the mouse, Yahoo! Greetings provides our users with a simple
way to send their holiday wishes electronically. It's fast, free,
and fun."
More Electronic Cheer Spread This Holiday Season…and
on Time!
Got a sticky tongue from licking hundreds of stamps? Tired of
sending more holiday greetings than you receive? Worried that
your holiday greetings won't arrive on time? If you answered
yes to any of these questions, then we've got good news for you.
· Reach out to more people with electronic greeting
cards: the majority of e-mail users are likely to send more holiday
greetings this season if they use free electronic greetings,
such as Yahoo! Greetings.
· Send your greeting cards on time: 25 percent of all
email users send their greeting cards late or not at all. For
those who wait until the last minute, Yahoo! Greetings is the
perfect solution for sending timely, creative and meaningful
holiday greetings.
Spreading Cheer Throughout the Year
Why limit yourself to only sending creative messages and greetings
during the holidays? Electronic greetings make it easy to send
fun, creative messages throughout the year.
· More than half of all e-mail users have received
an electronic greeting in the past month.
· Approximately one in four e-mail users send more than
10 electronic greetings each year.
· Over a third of all email users are very or extremely
likely to send electronic greetings at any time during the year.
Launched in August, Yahoo!® Greetings (http://greetings.yahoo.com)
offers a wide variety of virtual greeting cards for all occasions.
Yahoo! Greetings is fun, free, easy to use and offers one of
the widest selections of cards on the Internet. Cards are available
in different styles so people can choose the one that is just
